Dr. Asfaw is a Michigan native. Born and raised in Metro Detroit, she went to Duke University for her undergraduate studies and attended medical school at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. She then returned to the Midwest for her residency and fellowship.
She completed her General Surgery training in 2013 at Wayne State/DMC and did fellowships in Surgical Critical Care at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Chicago. Dr. Asfaw returned home in 2016 after completing her fellowship and worked at the DMC and Ascension Providence for several years before transitioning to vein surgery. She holds board certifications in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
When she isn’t with her patients, Dr. Asfaw enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, traveling, and reading.
